Rio 2 Movie Review

Did you know that the now defunct animation company Blue Sky Studios made a sequel that wasn’t part of the Ice Age franchise? Well that was Rio 2 and for me, it was quite decent. The animation still feels gorgeous (especially with depicting the Amazon rainforest the main characters are visiting for this adventure), the songs are still catchy and professionally done, the voice-acting is still done strongly, humor still works, and the heart is still there. Plus I like how we got to see more wildlife of the movie’s setting that wasn’t just birds as well as the characters getting to get pushed through new challenges.

Issues I had was that the villains weren’t that well-developed nor did they feel as threatening and competent from what I can remember of the predecessor (keep in mind, I haven’t seen Rio in a really long time). Also certain characters that I remember played very integral roles in the previous movie didn’t show up as much as they did here.

But aside from that, I’d give it a 7/10.
