Driving Part 2

Thank you for those who answered my question from part 1. This is the order of the people I preferred to drive with from most to least comfortable: my grandfather, mom, brother and dad. For those of you who know my dad, you’ll probably know why he’s my fourth choice. In my dad’s defense though, the majority of driving was done with him until he felt I was safe enough to drive the rest of my family.

With my permit I continued to practice driving not only around my neighborhood, but also to other places such as towns and even in Rhode Island to go grocery shopping and to work. I also practiced with a driving instructor that came to my house. Then after a full year of having my permit, it was time for me to do the actual driving test and get my driver’s license. A man arrived in the morning to take me to the DMV where my test would be and my brother followed us.

Once I got there, I went up and after waiting a few minutes got in the car with my driving instructor. We drove around the area for 10 minutes, I was able to remain calm and did what they told me to do then once I parked the car back where it started, I learned that I passed the test.

Then after deciding for a while on what my potential vehicle could be, I eventually decided on a jeep that I purchased on my own with the money I had been saving from working.

For a while, I followed my parents to certain destinations on my way to and from work. After a couple weeks they started letting me follow not as far. In April, I had my first drive to work all on my own. Once I started driving by myself I’d talk to my dad and my mom through my bluetooth.
