Big George and Me

This will be a little bit different from my usual blog. This summer, I got to have a sit down with my Uncle George and my father told me a funny story about how when he was younger that included my uncle “Big George”. This story is about revenge, intimidation, teacher’s intuition, and being a rat with a little bit of romance added in, kind of like The Princess Bride.
When my dad was in elementary school, one of his classmates gave out his phone number to his cousin and he’d prank call my dad’s house, sometimes getting my aunt when she answered and talking dirty to her.
Because of this, my dad asked Big George “who was the most intimidating person my dad knew”, and how he would handle if it was him and Big George said, “I would take him out.”. So my dad went to school the following day with the intent on beating up the kid who gave out his phone number. While in class, once the teacher turned her back, my dad snapped a long elastic into the kid’s back, making him stand stood up and said, “Do you want a punch?” to which my dad replied “Yeah!”. The kid hit my dad in the chest and my dad said it didn’t hurt so he thought it was going to be easy. In the meantime, the teacher turned around and told my dad to go outside the classroom and cool off. My dad said she must’ve had teacher’s intuition to know he started it.
Later, my dad told his friend that he was gonna beat up the kid in recess and to his surprise, the friend said he was gonna beat up the same kid too for flirting with his girlfriend. During recess, when my dad approached the kid, his friend came up and just started punching the kid in the face, and my dad was like “Wow!”.
Sometime after, the kid ratted on them to the principal, which also surprised my dad. Now my dad had to go into the office with the second most intimidating person- the principal Mr. Ruzanski who gave my dad his first detention.
Years later, the two became friends and the kid (not the one who got punched in the face) that was my dad’s friend became his best man at my parents’ wedding.
What actually got the story brought up was my dad seeing me sit with Uncle George and not being nervous because like I mentioned before, people don’t make me nervous, situations do.
Hope you enjoyed the story!
