My Computer Problem

Here’s something that’s been going on for months and while I’ve tried keeping it to myself, I’m afraid I can’t hold back any longer. In Christmas of 2017, I was given my own computer by my parents, specifically an iMac. Over the years that followed, I’ve used this computer like any other I’ve used to go around on the internet and listen to music. But the things I really liked to do the most on it were my art program Autodesk Sketchbook since 2020 (which I still use to this day) and typing on documents. 

I was able to do typing on the Pages feature that came in the main form of the program itself, and using external hard drives to store my documents in that Pages allowed me to edit on my computer with. The latter option was the one I used the most and that was largely for my personal documents containing my story ideas and my college papers which helped get me through it.

Then in January of this year, I noticed my computer needed to be updated after how slowly it went and I did just that which took a lengthy wait, but it finally ended and my computer began running smoothly again. But just as I clicked on Pages and on one of my documents attached to a hard drive, it strangely took a while for something to come up and when it did, I was told that Pages quit unexpectedly. This kept happening to me multiple times even when I tried opening a document not put on a hard drive.

With help from my mom, I tried everything to get it back working, but to no avail. 

Sometime down the line, I learned that my computer has been fully updated and thus won’t do anymore, therefore I am now unable to edit documents on my computer, although I’m still able to make art and pictures. Now in order to keep working on my documents, I’ve got to use my parents’ Mac and I have to be careful when going on certain sites if I want to get information on a certain subject for what I’m writing about. 

Bottom line, I really, really, REALLY hate this problem I’m facing. Being able to use this computer has been really helpful as I said before for helping me get through college, make Facebook posts, and help get my first two books out into the world. But now, I can’t do that anymore. My parents have suggested me get a new Mac and replace my current one, but I’m rather hesitant about so because of my art program that has all my art projects and I’m apprehensive about if there are any problems in getting them onto my potential new mac.

Does anyone else know what I can do? And if so, PLEASE, let me know.
